On October 27, 2010, the Bozeman Area Community Foundation held its Annual Gathering at the Story Mansion in Bozeman. More than 40 nonprofits joined the Foundation’s board of directors for a potluck chili dinner.
Brian Magee (Executive Director) and Patty White (Marketing and Communications Director) from the Montana Nonprofit Association (MNA) gave an audio/video presentation on certain aspects of MNA. 2011 will mark the 10th anniversary of the MNA. MNA provides a voice for charitable nonprofits in Montana. MNA is the largest state nonprofit association/organization in the U.S. on a per capita basis.
MNA has five areas of focus:
i. Policy work on behalf of nonprofits.
ii. Group buying programs, including health insurance, office supplies, etc.
iii. Organization development.
iv. Communications & Research: information sharing.
v. Network building. Build Montana, a web-based information sharing site is a major effort by MNA. It is a work in progress.
Build Montana is organized into four sections:
- Search (this section is up and running). The “search” data come from GuideStar.
- Volunteer. This will be developed in the next two months. They are working with Network for Good in the Volunteer section. Network for Good aggregates data from 16 different sources.
- Donate.
- Learn.
